Your Frequently Asked Questions About Hospice Event – May 22nd

On November 7th, 2024, the Aspen Glen Clubhouse transformed into a hub of knowledge and community connection as Hospice of the Valley hosted the Aspen Glen Informational event. Sponsored by the dedicated trio of Alex Willens, Karen Alldredge, and Leslie Gallagher, this open forum provided an engaging platform for community members to explore the intricacies of advanced care planning and available options. Those who attended gained a greater understanding of what Hospice of the Valley has to offer and left the event with perspective on aging and end of life care.

Attendees of this event were welcomed into a warm and inviting atmosphere where they could interact directly with a panel of experts from Hospice of the Valley. This esteemed panel included our medical director Doctor Liss Gruen, Doctor Brandy Drake Palliative Care director at Valley View Hospital, nurse practitioner Cathi Basler, two compassionate hospice nurses Oanh Hoang and Legend Romme, our chief financial officer Peter Schoomaker, a supportive social worker Jim Codington, our caring chaplain Thom Jones, and one of our dedicated volunteers Brigett Widmer. Each participant shared valuable insights and answered questions, fostering a deeper understanding of hospice services and the support available for aging and end-of-life care.

The event aimed to empower attendees with knowledge, encouraging them to reconsider their perspectives on aging and end-of-life options. As discussions unfolded, the room buzzed with curiosity and engagement, leaving participants with newfound clarity and resources.

Looking ahead, we hope to see you at our next Caring Conversation scheduled for May 22nd from 3:30 to 5:00 PM at the Carbondale Public Library.
